  • MEMORABLE DISC GOLF MOMENT
In the summer of 2008 I went on a missions trip to Davao Philippines. During my time there I was able to share disc golf with many people and students. To my knowledge this is the first time anyone has brought this sport to the Philippines. It was amazing to see the faces of everyone who tried it, and those who just watched and laughed! It was a huge hit and is now being played at a fitness facility and at several schools. I am just so happy and thankful I was able to share our sport in a country that has never seen it!
    Miles' Disc Golf Tips
    Power Down Your Brain
For me the hardest thing to learn was overcoming myself. I used to be hard on myself about missed shots and missed opportunities. It wasn't until I learned how to deal with pressure and turn my brain off that I truly started having fun. And guess what? My play got better in the process! I see so many new golfers that have great talent already, but they have horrible tournaments. My advice is to try and turn your brain off. During a tournament round don't think about technique, timing, how the other guy is playing, or that you need this shot. All you're doing is putting more pressure on yourself. Turn your brain off try to hit your line.

    Pull Back, Look Away
Take your eye off the target. I know, that sounds crazy, like the opposite of what you're trying to do. I see a lot of players that have distance problems aren't turning their body away from the target when they drive. Distance is created from using you major muscle groups like you hips and shoulders, not just your arm. Until you learn to turn your body away from what you're aiming at, these muscles wont be using their full potential. It might take you a while to get your aiming down, but I with practice you will learn to be accurate and get more distance.

Practice For Those Who Don't Practice
I get a lot of questions about how I practice. The best answer I can give is to go to a field and find two objects you can throw back and fourth to using a different shot each time. But lets face it, most disc golfers want to play, or don't have time to practice and play. For these people I suggest playing your round like normal, only each time you play try throwing different shots. Don't just throw the same shot on a hole every time. Try something new, a different disc or a different line. By doing this your forcing yourself to learn different shots and getting to know your discs. You might find that the route that works better for you isn't the one everyone else throws.
    COURSES YOU SHOULD PLAY:

    Course Comments
    ZBoaz
    Ft. Worth, TX
My home course. It will tear you apart if you aren't ready for it. I learned to play the game here.
    Waterworks
    Kansas City, MO
Crazy elevation changes overlooking Kansas City. Can't beat that!
    Fountain Hills
    Phoenix, AZ
Possibly the most beautiful course I have ever played!
    Veterans Park
    Arlington, TX
It has an amazing variety of shots.
    Lions Wilderness
    Farmington, NM
Nothing really amazing. But everyone has a course they love for some reason, and this ones mine.
In The Disc Golf Bag: Drivers
    Disc Comments
    Z Predator
    (173 - 174)
Best driver ever made! I use this disc for EVERYTHING. Turnovers, straight, hyzers. I carry three at all times, each one slightly more stable than the next. Makes for a good progression, as one gets too beat in I take it out and the others move down a spot in the bag and a new one is added at the top. I love them mostly because they are consistent! There is no fear when I throw them because I know they will finish left. Which makes the disc very predictable. If you want a driver you can depend on for every situation reach for a PRED!
    ESP Predator
    (173 - 174)
I like Preds, what can I say?! I like to beat these in so they are a little more understable then their Z counterparts. This makes them useful for long turnovers without the fear that it won't come back. I use this one for windy day rollers. You get the same predictability with them in the air as well as on the ground!
    FLX Predator
    (173 - 174)
The thing is stable!!!! It is very useful for CRAZY windy days. But I mostly use it for spike hyzers, thumbers and grenades. The stability makes it consistent and the FLX plastic makes it stick when it hits the ground.
    ESP Force
    (173 - 174)
BOOOOOMMMMMM!!!! That pretty much says it all. Super fast disc that is stable and controllable. I use this disc for my long air shots when a Pred doesn't quite have the distance. It handles headwinds like a champ and when beat in a little develops HUGE S bomb abilities! Its also very useful as a sidearm disc. Consistent and goes FAR. What more could you want?!
    ESP Pulse
    (173 - 174)
I use the Pulse for my sidearms. Its low profile allows a very clean exit from your hand and a smooth flight with great ground skipping abilities. Probably my favorite thing about it is the thumb track! It has a small thumb track around the edge that is right where I like to put my thumb, which gives me a little more grip.
    ESP Surge
    (173 - 174)
I carry a beat in Surge for my main roller. I like it because it flips fast and easy which is awesome for tunnel rollers. And when I am out in the open it can sky roll with the best of them!
    Z Tracker
    (173 - 174)
Everyone needs a shorter, slower, more controllable driver. The Z Tracker is mine. It's stable enough to be trustworthy, but flippy enough to go straight for a long ways. I use a lot for shots where my Buzzz just wont reach. Makes a good roller too once it's beat in.
In The Disc Golf Bag: Midrange
    Disc Comments
    FLX Drone
    (173 - 175)
I call the Drone my baby Pred! It has the same flight characteristics as my Pred, but is slower and shorter. Its great for short spikes, skips, upshots, windy days, sidearms, and much more! The most versatile disc in my bag without a doubt! If wind scares you pick up a Drone!
    Z Buzzz
    (173 - 175)
Best midrange on the market hands down! I know several guys that the only Discraft disc they throw is a Buzzz. It's a super straight flyer that leaves your hand clean and stays on the line you put it on. I haven't met a Discraft guy yet who doesn't throw one. So if you want the throw what the pros throw then a Buzzz is a must!
    ESP Wasp
    (173 - 175)
The Wasp is my go too midrange when the conditions are a little too much for the Buzzz. It is a great headwind midrange that holds it own. I reach for it when I need a right to left finish after a straight flight.
In The Disc Golf Bag: Putt and Approach
    Disc Comments
    D Challenger
    (173 - 175)
It has been the only Discraft putter I have ever used. Its stability makes it an excellent upshot and driver putter. As far as putting goes there is no comparison! I like to beat my putter Challengers up a little, which gives them the straight flight so important in putting without sacrificing constancy. I usually have at least three in my bag at all times. They are so versatile and consistent it makes them the right choice for every approach and putt!
