BORN: 1983
STARTED IN DISC GOLF: 2003
All that glitters:
  • 3rd, 2008 KC Wide Open
  • 2nd, 2007 World Mixed Pro Doubles (with her brother Tim)
  • 2006 Rookie of the Year
  • 9th, 2007 Pro Worlds
  • 10th, 2007 USWDGC
  • Memorable Disc Golf Moment
Taking 2nd at the 2007 Pro Worlds Mixed Doubles Championships. My partner was my brother Tim Schreder. He is the one responsible for introducing me to the game of disc golf and teaching me a few things along the way. We actually went into a two hole playoff, we lost, but to share that moment with him was awesome and victory enough for me!
Katy's Advice For A Better Game
People tend to get frustrated easily. Here's how to decrease your frustration: 1.Don't necessarily focus on the result of your shot. If you throw the shot you intended on the line you intended and the result doesn't come out exactly how you thought it would, that doesn't necessarily mean you threw a bad shot. You did all you could to throw the shot you wanted to. This is what I found helps me to move on from a bad shot and focus on to the next task at hand. 2. Commit to your shot. Have 100% confidence that this is the shot you want to make. Freeing your mind of worries

Don't try to force something that is not there. Be natural with your shot. The best way to be natural with your shot is to buy discs that suit you. If you are looking for more distance try something a little more understable or even a little lighter.

Remember to practice your short distance approaches. When you don't have a lot of distance this is just as important as your drive. I tend to practice these shots from 100-150 feet. When you are able to put yourself within your consistent putting range it boosts confidence for the upcoming putt.
    COURSES YOU SHOULD PLAY:

    Course Comments
    Fountain Hills
    Fountain Hills, AZ
Beautiful course with lots of risk reward shots.
    Blue Ribbon Pines
    East Bethel, MN
This is the best manicured course out there. Not to mention the challenge. This course will test every aspect of your game.
    McNaughton Park
    Pekin, IL
This course has such a variety. Elevation change, woods, and long bombers.
    Riverside Park
    St. Cloud, MN
This is a beautiful course with rolling hills and lots of oak trees and of course it is my home course.
    Waterworks Park

Love the elevation changes within a city park!

    Disc Comments
    X NUKE
    (170-172 gm)
Easy to control with the extra distance.
    Z Stalker
    (167-169 gm)
I love this disc. I use it for multiple types of shots. From short hyzers to straight shots when I need a little more distance than my Buzzz.
    ESP Avenger SS
    (173-174)
I have always thrown the Avenger SS, but I was needing to replace them often as they would get beat in. Now that it's available in Z plastic I am able to throw the same disc but with more consistency.
    X Avenger
    (170-172)
I use this disc when I needed to throw a nice easy hyzer.
    Z Surge SS
    (169-172)
I use this as a fairway driver. Always finishes on a hyzer line. Very reliable.

    Disc Comments
    X Buzzz
    (170-174)
This is the best disc I carry in my bag. I carry multiples in my bag, each a little differently beat in. I feel the most confident throwing this disc. I know I can get it to do what I want. It will hold whatever line you throw it on.
    ESP Buzzz
    (173-174 gm)
This is slightly more stable than my X Buzzz. I use this disc for more hyzer approach shots.
    ESP Meteor
    (173-174 gm)
This disc is very easy to control. I use it as my main approach disc and have am always confident with it.
In The Disc Golf Bag: Putt and Approach

    D Challenger
