| Bert's Disc Golf Tips |
Teaching other players will improve your own game. I have learned over the years that as I help people with an open mind I can learn from them. While I talk to people about how to throw a disc, I have to think of the entire throw and all the small things that most happen to create a good shot. I watch the person throw and try to help them use more of their legs and shoulders. Grip and better posture are another things to look at to help in the overall shot. Then I have to look at myself and ask, "Am I doing what I tell others to?"
Some beginners simply try to throw too hard. You need to get the technique down first, then the power. I had to learn this way. I would take too many bad shots during a round by trying to power the throw. I learned that if you slow it down you get more.
Most new players don't ask for help, and forget to just have fun. This is a game to bring people together so ask questions and watch the pros. Take the time to warm up and take some practice putts. Most new players run to hole one and start. To get better and stay healthy, work on your putts. I try to make at least 50 putts before I play a round. Keep a smile on your face.

COURSES YOU SHOULD PLAY: |

Comments |
Mission Trails San Diego, CA |
This course was before its time and longer then any course known to this sport. Known for fairway golf, and I would have to say the best this sport had ever seen. |
Winthrop Gold Rock Hill, SC |
Long holes with par fours and fives something this sport needs bad. Can't wait to return. |
La Mirada La Mirada, CA |
Rolling hills long fairways. This course lets me unleash every trick in the bag. |
Delaveaga Santa Cruz, CA |
Some of the best true people on the earth always a good friendly time. Also brings this sport back to its roots of small technical shots. |

ESP Surge (max weight)
|
Until the Force came out, Surge has been my go-to disc for the long bombs reaching 500+ feet.
|
ESP Force (max weight)
|
To put it simply: with the Force, I can now throw 600+ feet, and that feels pretty good!
|
Z Avenger (max weight)
|
I always have at least two in my bag at all times: one that is overstable and and older one for the straight-turn shots. This disc is very trustworthy, and is used for max distance.
|
Z Predator (max weight) |
For long hyzer shots. I know this disc will end left for me in any weather conditions.
|
Z Flick (max weight) |
For low skip shots or my trusty sidearm disc. In a heavy head wind I know I can pull a flick and have a solid flight.
|
Z Talon (max weight) |
While on the road last year I got to hang with Mike Raley and Geoff Bennett, who showed me the wonderful forehand shot that is possible with the Talon. Wow!

Z Buzzz (173 - 177) |
The Buzzz is the best midrange: I will always have two on me at all times. One is used for hyzers and the other is used for turnover shots.

D Challenger (172) |
The best putter on the market. I use it for upshots, jump putts, and inside putting greens. I know what it's going to do every time it comes out of my hand.
|
CryZtal Z Challenger (max weight) |
When I need a very slow disc off the tee box or for upshots. This is my most used midrange.
