Bestsellers: A Retailer's Buying Guide
The basics of ordering golf discs

If you are ordering golf discs for your retail business but aren't familiar with disc golf, you might be feeling like a freshman in a quantum physics class. No worries, we're here to help.

The important thing to understand is that golf discs are like clubs to a ball golfer: each is intended for different shots and course challenges. Therefore you will appeal to more players when you are able to offer them a wider selection to choose from.

RELATED LEARNING: If you would like to learn about stability ratings and other player concerns, head over to our guide to disc selection for new players, then come back here. Otherwise, read on.

Three classes of golf disc: driver, midrange and putter

Regardless of how large or small your inventory plans are, you'll want to offer options in each of these categories: Driver, Midrange and Putter.

Hot tip: Have plenty of drivers in stock! These discs fly the farthest, and are therefore the easiest to lose and need replacing.

Plastic variations

In addition to classes and models, you'll need to think about plastic lines. Sometimes a particular model is only available in one plastic, but others may have as many as six plastic variations to choose from. How to pick?

Once again, the wider your selection, the wider your customer appeal. Some buyers want the lowest price, others look for the best quality, still others will choose based solely on visual appeal and will snap up Glo and Fly Dye models. Give them a good mix for best results.

The no brainer: pre packaged sets

If you're in a general retail environment with no disc golf courses nearby, your best seller will likely be one of our retail sets.

The standard set includes a driver, a midrange and a putter.

The deluxe set includes two drivers, one midrange and one putter, plus a disc golf carry bag.

Disc models, colors and plastics vary in each, but will always be appropriate for beginners.

Must have accessories: Ultra-Star, Bags

When planning a wholesale disc golf purchase, buyers often forget about Discraft's best seller of all time: the 175 gram Ultra-Star ultimate disc. Lots of customers will grab one to use for Ultimate or as a recreational catch disc, and give your store disc sports cred. Disc golf bags are the number one disc golf accessory.
